Do we have to invest immediately if we sign up?

No. There is no payment required when you sign up and you will never be required to invest immediately.

After signing up, you’ll be invited to join our amazing community of interested investors. If you sign up for our newsletter, you will receive monthly emails about personal finance, investing tips, and the keys to success.

How will I be paired up with other investors?

Our matchmaking algorithm will pair investors based on their investment goals and risk tolerance. Every investor fills out this information on their assessment form prior to becoming a Homebound member.

What is the average length of an investment?

The average investment length varies based on each project. Homebound offerings typically range between a 2 – 7 year hold period at which point the asset will be sold and the proceeds will be distributed to investors.

What if I want to sell my shares of the property?

Investments in the Homebound platform are illiquid. This means that you will not be able to sell your shares until the property is sold, as outlined in the holding period of the legal contract.

The good news is that this will remove all human biases and follow our property growth plans, based on our algorithm and expert recommendations.

What are the risks involved with investing in Homebound?

If the investment property depreciates in value, this will affect both Homebound and the investor. However, there are specific provisions in our legal contracts which indicate a longer holding period until the property reaches a suitable return for both parties.

Can I live in the property I invest in?

It depends. Yes, there is potential to live in the rental property you invest in. However, every renting applicant must go through our tenant vetting process and there are no guarantees. For more information please contact us at [email protected].

Why not just invest in a REIT?

A Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is another method of investing in real estate, which includes a portfolio of properties across country and managers which operate the trust. While this can diversify your portfolio, REITs are publicly traded and often follow the volatility of the market.

Homebound offers our retail investors the ability to pick and choose which types of assets they want to invest in directly with full transparency.

How does Homebound make money?

Homebound makes money from the commissions (purchases and sales of the investment property) and from service fees for managing the property tenants.

Is Homebound available in my region?

Homebound is currently based in Toronto, Ontario. We’re expanding across Canada very soon.
